Why Pick 25KB Instead of 20KB or 30KB
Plenty of upload forms accept anything in a 20KB to 50KB band rather than one fixed number. 25KB is a sensible place to sit inside that band. It clears the lower edge with room to spare, so a form that quietly rejects files under 20KB still takes yours. It also stays well below the ceiling, so a re-save on the portal's side will not push you over.
The gain over 20KB is real but modest. On our test scan the file grew from 19.9KB to 24.8KB, and the extra 5KB went straight into image detail, so small print survives a little better. If your form only states a maximum and nothing else, aim for the middle of the range rather than the very bottom.

What the Compressor Changes and What It Leaves Alone
Pi7 goes after the images first, because in any PDF worth compressing the images are the file size. Photos and scans get re-encoded at a lower resolution and quality, tested, and re-encoded again until the result sits just under your number. Your text, fonts and vector drawings are not touched during this pass, which is why the test scan kept selectable content at 24.8KB.
Some files have nothing to give. A text-only document with an embedded font has no images to shrink, and we measured one six-page example that would not go below 217.6KB by this route. In that case Pi7 switches to flattening the pages into images so the number is still met, and the result card states plainly that the text is no longer selectable.
Nothing Leaves Your Browser Tab
Your document is read, compressed and saved entirely on your own computer or phone. No copy is sent to Pi7, so there is nothing for us to store or delete later. People compressing to 25KB are usually uploading scanned certificates or ID pages, and those should not sit on a stranger's server just to lose a few kilobytes.
Because the work is local there is no size cap driven by upload limits, no daily allowance, and no account to create. Encrypted PDFs work too, with the password prompt appearing on your device. Is 25KB small enough for most upload forms?
It clears the common 50KB and 100KB caps easily and sits inside the usual 20KB to 50KB band. Check whether your form states a minimum as well. Some portals reject files that are too small, which is the main argument for 25KB over 20KB.
Why is my result 24.8KB and not 25KB?
Pi7 aims just under the target on purpose. Forms worded as "less than 25KB" treat a file sitting exactly on the limit as too big, so landing slightly below avoids a rejection you would struggle to explain.
Can I compress a multi-page PDF to 25KB?
You can, but the budget is shared across pages, so a five-page document gets about 5KB per page and every page suffers for it. One or two pages is the sensible range at this size. For longer files, 100KB keeps far more detail.
Does compressing to 25KB reduce the page count or size of the page?
No. Every page stays, and the paper size stays as it was. Only the picture data inside the file is reduced, unless you turn on the page-shrinking option in Advanced options yourself.
